RAY BARNETT
Ray Barnett, 69, of Atoka, passed away on October 16, 2025 after a brief illness. He was the owner of the Barnett Insurance Agency in Bartlett. Funeral services was held on Oct. 20 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment in Indian Creek Cemetery in Brighton. The family received friends two hours prior the service at the Covington Funeral Home.
RICHARD ‘DICK’ JAMES CAUGHEY
Richard “Dick” James Caughey, 87, of Millington, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 10, 2025. Born on May 31, 1938, in Perham, Minn., to James and Agnes (Ceynowa) Caughey, Dick led a remarkable and adventurous life, filled with service, dedication, and curiosity. He proudly served his country as a courier in the United States Army based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, followed by being a police officer in Minneapolis. Upon graduating from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in History, he joined Carnation Company’s sales force and executive training program. He engaged a wide range of careers — from salesman and farmer to incentive executive for several companies and finally landing in Memphis with Malone and Hyde heading their travel division. Dick always brought hard work, humor, and heart to everything he did. A man of many passions, Dick avidly collected old advertising of beer, coffee, and tobacco. He was a lifelong golfer, hunting and fishing enthusiast, and inquisitive world traveler who truly appreciated the people, stories and experiences life offered. Dick joins his first wife, LaVonne Caughey who preceded him in death in 1998. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Caughey, of 25 years and their blended family: children Jessica Donohue, Sarah Wilaby, Jonathan Caughey, Peter Caughey, and Paul Caughey; and stepchildren George Etheridge and Eric Etheridge. He was a proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy. Dick will be remembered for his outgoing personality, adventurous spirit, love of collecting and travel, and his deep devotion to his family. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to St Jude Research Hospital or charity of your choice in Richard’s memory.
HAROLD COMPTON JR.
Harold Compton Jr., 84, passed away on October 13, 2025. The family received friends on Oct. 17, at Munford Funeral Home – Munford Chapel until the graveside service. Harold was a proud retired U.S. Army veteran, who served 22 years. Harold enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, and absolutely loved the U.S. Army. He leaves behind four sisters, Gloria, Shelia, Betty, and Margret Compton; five brothers, Billy, Larry, Gary Joe, Bobby, and Rickey Compton. Mr. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruby Ray Compton; his wife, Ann Compton; and two brothers, Charles and Mitchell Compton.

Miller O. Moy, 71, of Millington, passed away on October 14, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital-Bartlett. There will be a viewing for Ms. Miller on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10-10:55 a.m. with her funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Mortuary, Inc., – Chapel, 7788 Church Street, Millington. Interment will follow at Pleasant Rest Memorial Gardens, 6223 Raleigh Millington Road, Millington. Jefferson Mortuary, Inc. has charge.

Fredrick Payne, 52, of Drummonds passed away October 9, 2025. Millington Funeral Home had charge.
RUBYE INEZ DODSON WRIGHT
Rubye Inez Dodson Wright, 98, went to be with our Lord and savior on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Covington Care Center, she was on hospice. Funeral Service was held on Oct. 15 at Munford Funeral Home – Munford Chapel in Munford. The family received friends until the service. Interment followed the service at Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford.
