JOHN ‘JACK’ SCOTT BISHOP 

John “Jack” Scott Bishop, 71, of Millington, passed away September 4, 2021. The family asks any memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (StJude.org) Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel had charge. 

WALLACE WAYNE CRAIG

Wallace Wayne Craig, 73, of Munford, passed away September 5, 2021, at his home. The family received friends Sept. 14 at the Munford Chapel until the service. Interment followed in Helen Crigger Cemetery. Munford Funeral Home Munford Chapel had charge.

FARRIS HODGES

Farris Hodges, 94, passed away September 4, 2021. Mr. Hodges was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during WWII on the USS Prairie. He was preceded in death by a son, Farris Hodges, Jr. and is survived by his wife, Hazel Hodges; son, David Hodges; two sisters, Vonda Simpson and Bonnie Lee; four grandchildren. The family received friends Sept. 9 until the service at the Millington Chapel. Interment was private. Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel had charge. 

JANICE LYNN KELLY

Janice Lynn Kelly, 60, of Lucy, passed away September 6, 2021. Mrs. Kelly was a procurement technician for Moral, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) and CNIC and loved spending time with her grandchildren, shopping, her dogs and fishing. She was preceded in death by her father, William C. Howard, III; sister, Sherry Howard; and a daughter-in-law, Alena Kelly. She was survived by her husband, Kenny Wayne Kelly, Sr.; daughters, Melissa (Cameron) Prater of Memphis, and Jennifer (Michael) Jordan of Millington; son, Ken Wayne Kelly, Jr. of Memphis; mother, Dolly Faye Howard of Hornbeak; sister, Jane Hammond of Corinth, Miss.; brothers, W.C. “Bill” Howard of Bartlett, David Howard of Hornbeak, and Michael Howard of Bartlett; and seven grandchildren. The family asks any memorials be made to the Memphis Animal Shelter. Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel had charge. 

CHARLENE KLENK LANDRUM

Charlene Klenk Landrum, 75, homegoing was September 9, 2021, at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis. A funeral was scheduled for Charlene Klenk Landrum on Sept. 14,  at Munford Funeral Home. The family received guests with the funeral service following and Dennis Landrum officiated. Munford Funeral Home Munford Chapel had charge. 

MARIA MARTINEZ

Maria Martinez, 32, of Millington, passed away on September 5, 2021. Services are pending. Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel had charge. 

MAURICE ROBINSON

Maurice Robinson, 62, of Covington, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021 at Methodist Hospital South in Memphis. There was a memorial service for Mrs. Robinson on Sept. 10 at Jefferson Mortuary, in Millington. Jefferson Mortuary, Inc. had charge. 

JUANITA J. SMITH

Juanita J. Smith, 84, of Millington, passed away September 8, 2021. The family received friends Sept. 13 until the service at the Millington Chapel. Interment followed in West Union Cemetery. The family asks any memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (StJude.org). Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel had charge. 

MAE NITA SMITH

Evangelist Mae Nita Smith, 88, passed away September 5, 2021. Funeral service was held Sept. 11 at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church in Covington. Interment was held at Avery Chapel Church Cemetery in Covington. Millington Funeral Home had charge.

Carol Burkhalter Sprunger, 95, of Millington, formerly of Champaign, Illinois, died in the evening, Thursday, September 9, 2021, at a local care home in Tennessee. Born December 25, 1925 in Clinton County, Indiana, west of Mulberry, she was a 1943 graduate of Mulberry High School and Lafayette Business College.  She was office manager of Culligan Soft Water Service in Lafayette for ten years before moving to Illinois where she was secretary to the minister and financial secretary of First Congregational Church of Champaign for five years.  After moving to Tennessee, she was a 4-H Club Leader and treasurer of the 4-H Volunteer Leaders Association for many years.  Following the death of her husband she did volunteer work two times a week in a nursing home.  She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Mulberry. Surviving are two daughters, Suan Sprunger and Joellen S. Dimond (husband, Lee) and a grandson, Alexander Paul Dimond, all of Millington. She is preceded in death by her husband, Blanchard L. Sprunger; her parents, Artus Earl and Etta Maude (Harshman) Burkhalter; sister, Evelyn B. Katzman; and two brothers, Evan Alfred and Merrill Paul Burkhalter. A public visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at the Trinity Church of Mulberry 103 S. Main Street, Mulberry, IN 46058. The funeral service will be private with a livestream available for watching at 10am on Friday, September 17, 2021, with Pastors Greg Young and Phil Whisler officiating. Livestreaming may be found at www.gendafuneralhome.com and scrolling down through her obituary to the livestream. A private burial will be in the Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry.

SUSAN ELAINE WILBURN

Susan Elaine Wilburn, 59, of Millington, passed from this world to join the angels in Heaven on Monday, September 6, 2021. Funeral services were held Sept. 12 at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home in Millington with interment at Big Creek Church Cemetery. Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home had charge.
