NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The City of Millington is seeking to obtain Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds through the State of Tennessee which are only available to communities which were declared disaster areas because of flooding in 2011 and 2012. The only known unmet need of public property in the community created by the 2011 flooding and eligible for the program is replacement of sand filters and an emergency generator at the Waste Water (Sewer) Treatment Plant. There is $1,032,000 available from the State for this purpose and the City is seeking all of those funds. The CDBG entitlement program is to develop viable communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and opportunities to expand economic opportunities, principally for low and moderate income persons.
There will be a Public Hearing for citizen input on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 5:00 PM in City Hall Chambers, 7930 Nelson Road, Millington, TN. Individuals may also submit written comments until that date to City Clerk, City of Millington, 7930 Nelson Road, Millington, TN. No residents will be displaced by this project and the plant will continue to operate during the process. A copy of the proposed application for this project is available to review in the office of the City Clerk, 7930 Nelson Road, Millington, TN.
