The first Millington Lady Trojan golfer to sign a college scholarship will always be Emma Washington.
If that wasn’t special enough for the future Dyersburg State Lady Eagle, on the night of January 23, 2026 in the William Osteen Gymnasium with her dad Bobby by her side her peers voted her 2026 Millington Central High School Winterfest Queen.
“It’s crazy but so it’s great to just feel like and know that all my peers voted for me,” Washington said. “I never thought I would ever be like this. It just feels so great and I am so glad. Dude, I was so shocked. I didn’t think I stood a chance.”
Washington is also involved in Beta Club, National Honor Society, Yearbook and active in Millington First Baptist Church student ministry. The daughter of Kristen Washington had a hard time processing the special moment.
“It feels like… almost amazing,” she said. “It’s just cool to feel this way. I don’t even know how to explain. My mind is just in shock right now. But it feels great.”
Feeling overwhelmed by the legacy making moment, Washington put things into proper perspective before she joined her classmates to celebrate the moment.
“I would definitely say the little things do matter in everything you do,” she concluded. “All of it contributes to something bigger in the end. Don’t stop, keep going, your effort will pay off in the end.”
The 2026 MCHS Winterfest Court of Queen Emma Washington is 2026 Princess, freshman Hope Webb and freshmen Caydance Douglas, sophomores Danielle Bedford, Peyton Frost and juniors Abigail West, Amelia Wright and seniors Natalie Branch, Ta’mar Tuggle and Tamiya Walden.
