Saturday started off gloomy and with an overcast of gray clouds. Despite the uninviting outlook, the staff of the City of Millington, vendors and die-hard International Goat Days faithful made their way out to the Millington Sports Complex. The 2022 Goat Days started off as planned at 7 a.m. with the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast.

About a couple of hours later the rain started and it was steady throughout the event. Vendors like Faith Cuevas-Smith, with soy candles and other items. Cuevas-Smith has a business called Paparazzi selling various things like candles and jewelry available at 731-451-3307.  She stood her wet ground alongside other vendors under tents with protective plastic and umbrellas to shield from the rain.

Coming about a dozen at a time, instead of by the hundreds, families like Jose and Arcelia Hirada with their daughter Valeria came out to create memories. Mean Gene’s barbecue was still detectable in the air with a smoky, sweet aroma.

The Millington Police and Fire departments were on hand to greet patrons in conjunction with the City of Millington employees. Those who braved the wet conditions were rewarded with long conversations with vendors and no lines at the attractions.
