Rebels big plays on defense not enough to overcome Middleton

The Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels hosted the Middleton Tigers this past Friday night. The visiting Tigers jumped out quickly with scores to lead 18-0. The Rebels tried to rally with touchdowns in the second and third quarters, but Middleton outlasted TRA for the 32-21 victory. Clayton Brown sparked TRA when he intercepted a pass and returned it to the house for a 65-yard TD to make the score 24-7. Middleton added six more points before halftime when Jonathan Howser caught an 84-yard touchdown pass from Keon Pipkin. The Rebels (1-5) made the score 24-14 when Brody Starnes scooped up a fumble and returned it to the end zone from 64-yards out. Middleton was able to ice the game in the fourth quarter when Aaron Burnette scored on a 20-yard run. Pipkin added two points with a short run to make the score 32-14. Donald Crowe had the final touchdown of the night scoring from 12 yards out for TRA. The Rebels return to action Oct. 9 against Memphis Catholic.

IN OTHER ACTION: The Munford Cougars dominated the MLK Prep Rams 63-7 Friday night for a Homecoming victory. JR Kirby’s Cougars remain unbeaten on the season at 5-0. Munford will host Bolton this Friday returning back to Region action.
