Rebels rally to start 1-0

The Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels had a slow start to the 2017 season against Gibson County trailing 14-0. Then the Rebels outscored Gibson County 28-7 the rest of the game to prevail 28-21 in overtime. Gibson County scored a touchdown courtesy of Jake Patterson in the first quarter. The Pioneers jumped ahead two scores when Will Cantrell located Donte Holder for a 20-yard TD pass. The Rebel (1-0) comeback started with less than four minutes left in the first half. TRA quarterback Donald Crowe got the Rebels on the scoreboard with a 1-yard touchdown run. The score was 14-7 at the break. Gibson County tried to seize control of the game again with a touchdown midway in the third quarter with a Ozzy Rico 13-yard run. Behind 21-7, the Rebels were the one to grab control of the contest. Crowe scored on his second TD run of the game this time from 9 yards out. The tally was 21-14 heading into the fourth quarter. TRA tied the game with 8:43 left in regulation when Mac Fullen broke loose for an 11-yard TD run. In overtime the Rebels were victorious when Jake Roane scored from 10 yards out. TRA returns into action Sept. 1 against Rossville Christian.
