On Wednesday morning, at 10 a.m., Millington Elementary School students had the opportunity to participate in a banner signing to show appreciation to local First Responders who serve to protect our communities. Mary Jones, wife of Millington Mayor Terry Jones, and her fifth grade class were eager to express their thanks with local First Responders and shared the importance their professions are within our community. The banner signing is part of the Never Forget Tribute, a special commemoration to honor the memory of the thousands lost on September 11, 2001. Hosted by Northridge Woodhaven Community Outreach, the Never Forget Tribute is a free and family-friendly community event open to the entire public. It takes place on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery located at 6755 Highway 51 North in Millington. The Never Forget Tribute will include an Art Exhibit by local youth. Those amazing artworks are being created by students from the Millington Central High School and students in Ms. Zachery’s art class. At the banner signing on Wednesday morning, Northridge Woodhaven Community Outreach Coordinator, Ashley Parker reminded students of the sacrifices First Responders make daily to keep our communities safe. Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home Manager, Will Terry said this, “As a gesture to show support and respect and to thank our First Responders for all they do for us every day, the appreciation banner will be available at the Never Forget Tribute for community to write notes of thanks and appreciation to local first responders. The banner will be shared throughout the community in the weeks following the Tribute.
