NASHVILLE — State Senator Paul Rose (R-Covington) announced Monday that Baptist Memorial Hospital – Tipton is set to receive $136,545 in a Rural Hospital Readiness Grant.
The grant was made possible under a COVID-19 response appropriation added to the state’s budget by the General Assembly in March and supported by Senator Rose.
“Our rural hospitals and healthcare providers have a tremendously important role to play in the health of our communities and I am very pleased these funds will aid them during the challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Sen. Rose. “I appreciate Governor Lee and our state officials for their role in awarding these funds.”
The COVID-19 response appropriation provided $10 million in Small and Rural Hospital Readiness Grants that are going to support hospitals facing financial strain due to effects of the virus.
The funds, capped at $500,000 per hospital, are distributed by the Tennessee Department of Finance & Administration.
“I also commend the tremendous job that our healthcare professionals are doing to serve the public during public health crisis,” added Rose. “They are a lifeline to many citizens and we appreciate their continued commitment to those in our communities.”
