New Millington Central High and Middle School Principal Michael Perry concluded his first week as the administrative leader in his old stomping grounds of Bartlett. Perry was in attendance supporting the Millington Trojan Football programs at the Bartlett Football Stadium during Friday night’s jamboree. Before returning back to Millington, Perry was a part of Bartlett City Schools.
Friday night the Bartlett Panthers hosted a dress rehearsal for themselves and other area teams the Collierville Dragons, Millington Trojans and Houston Mustangs. With JV teams for each school involved, four total quarters were played. T
he Dragons took on the Trojans in JV and varsity action taking up one half on the Bartlett Football Stadium field. The Trojans’ defense was impressive throughout the 25 minutes of varsity action. Meanwhile the Dragons took advantage of turnovers to score a late touchdown.
Then the Panthers took the field to take on the Mustangs for a quarter of JV action and the main event between the varsity squads. Houston Head Coach James Thomas called a trick play on the opening play from scrimmage leading to a touchdown.
The Panthers elected to work on their power running game throughout the quarter feeding running backs throughout the offensive possessions.
Collierville opens the season this Friday at home vs. Wooddale. Millington will be home as well to take on the Kirby Cougars. Houston will start the 2021 season at home against the Ridgeway Roadrunners. And Bartlett will return to the Bartlett Football Stadium to welcome Pure Athletic Alliance.
