With CayDen Young out with a left hand injury, the Brighton Cardinals made the trip down Highway 51 to the William Osteen Gymnasium to take on the Millington Trojans… shorthanded.
The Cardinals of Head Coach Chris Young were trying to adjust the point guard spot and slowed down the action only trailing 4-2 after one quarter. Then the pace picked up and the Trojans were able to create some separation leading to a 58-27 win over the Cardinals. With Millington nursing a 10-7 advantage in the second quarter, Brighton tied the game with a three-pointer.
The Cardinals even went ahead 11-10, leading to Trojan Lawson Barger giving Millington a 12-11 with free throws. The first half ended with a boom when Javohn Jackson located a streaking Tayshaun Dye for a thunderous slam to make the score 14-11.
Millington dominated the third quarter led by players like John Thomas, Darryl McDonald and Nik Massey outscoring Brighton 20-8.The Cardinals were held to 8 points in the fourth quarter and Millington added 24 points to close out the district victory.
