Simply The Best: Area schools represented across state in softball

The Millington Star coverage area has been well represented across the state in softball postseason honors. For the All-State team to All-Star games, players from Tipton-Rosemark Academy, Brighton, Munford and Millington made the rosters. In Jackson, 33 seniors from West Tennessee participated in the 2017 West Tennessee High School All-Star Softball Game at the West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex. Jackson State Head Coach Michael Winders led the Blue Team. Freed-Hardeman Skipper Todd Humphrey was the leader for the Red Team. The Star area players were Marisa Moss, Lindsey Morrissett and Katie Diggs. The game represented 24 schools.

Last Tuesday the Tennessee Softball Coaches Association released its postseason awards. The TSCA All-State team featured 18 players from West Tennessee. TRA’s Rachel Whitley was named to the Division II team. From Class 3A Munford’s Kelsey Frizzell and Brighton’s Ta’Mya Johnson were to the All-State team.

The TSCA All-Star Game which was played this Tuesday at Trevecca Nazarene featured teams of Middle, East and West Tennessee. All the squads played two games with the West Tennessee All-Stars featuring Millington’s Marquisha Sanders and Brighton’s Moss.
