On Sept. 21 at the district golf tournament at Forest Hill in Drummonds, Millington Trojan Matthew Westmoreland advanced as an individual with a 74. He was second overall. In girls action, Ally Westmoreland, Emma Washington and Grace Bell advanced as the third place team.
On Sept. 25 at the Regional Golf Tournament held at Pine Hill in Memphis, Matthew advanced to the State Tournament which will be held at Sevierville Golf Club.
The Sevierville Golf Club features two 18-hole championship courses. The Highlands course winds through lush rolling hills and fresh water mountain ponds. The River course plays along and across the Little Pigeon River.
This will be Matthew’s fourth trip to State. He was second overall and shot a 1-under, 69 previously. The State Tournament will be held Oct. 8-9.
