Here’s an update on your MCHS Trojan Wrestling team so far this season.
Last weekend they jumped on I-40 to take on Harpeth on Friday night. The Trojans won that match 48-33 with 6 wrestlers winning by pin: 120-Malik Wooten, 132-Ant Yarbrough, 152-Milton Yarbrough, 160-Wesley Bishop, 170-Eli Roberts, 220-Wesley Percer.
Wooten’s pin was in 34 seconds
They stayed in Nashville for 3 more matches and went 1-2 on Saturday. They defeated White House Heritage 57-24 with 6 wrestlers winning their matches: 113-Preston Herring (PIN), 120-Cole Stevens (PIN), 126-Malik Wooten (PIN), 145-Garrett Haley (14-8 DEC), 220-Wesley Percer (PIN) and 285-TJ Graves (PIN). Wooten had another fast pin in 29 seconds and TJ Graves pinned his opponent in 39 seconds.
Trojans lost to Brentwood Academy 49-30. Winning their matches were 126-Malik Wooten (PIN), 132-Ant Yarbrough (PIN), 145-Garrett Haley (PIN), 170-Eli Roberts (PIN) and 182-Lonzell Blackwell (PIN). Lonzell pinned his opponent in 46 seconds.
Last match of the day on Saturday was a loss to Fairview 64-18. Adrian Carbajal (138), Garrett Haley (145) and TJ Graves (285) all won their matches by pin with TJ’s coming in just 32 seconds.
Tuesday saw the Bartlett Panthers come to Millington to take on the Trojans in the first home wrestling match of the season. The little kitties scurried back to Bartlett with their tail between their legs with a dominating 48-17 Millington victory. Winning their matches were 113-Preston Herring (PIN), 132-Ant Yarbrough (25-14 DEC), 145-Garrett Haley (17-2 DEC), 152-Milton Yarbrough (PIN), 160-Wesley Bishop (14-10, DEC), 182-Eli Roberts (PIN) and 220-Wesley Percer (PIN). Roberts had the fastest pin of the night in 58 seconds.
Thursday night had the Munford Cougars come to Millington and the Cougars went back up Highway 51 with a 60-17 victory. 113-Malik Wooten (PIN), 145-Garrett Haley (7-3 DEC) and 170-Eli Roberts (9-3 DEC) were victorious for the Trojans.
