Squirrels with ADHD?

There can be little doubt that the squirrel is a quite hyperactive, twitchy little animal. I can remember my mom talking about me as young boy waking up “Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.”

Ever think about these little guys who spend their days foolishly chasing one another and hoarding and hiding acorns?

As an observer of nature, it occurs to me that this foolish and apparently forgetful creature who buries acorns all over is actually planting mighty oak trees.

“…but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong”. 1 Corinthians 1:27(NASB)

Could it be that we have the foolish hyperactive squirrel, who forgetfully buries his hoards all over to thank for the mighty, strong and wise Oaks that we all enjoy the shade of?

I’ve noticed a similar thing over ponds and lakes. Each morning and evening, especially in the evening, thousands of little insects dart around just above the surface of the water.

No doubt that they are carrying out their mating, territorial and feeding effort as they do each night. But of course, the fish, and the frogs, etc., are all fed by them daily.

It appears to me that the Lord can use even the lowest and most foolish of His creatures to accomplish bigger things they are not ever aware of.

In that, there is hope.

Our most foolish and thoughtless acts can still be woven in a tapestry to become beautiful in some manner to someone. God is not limited by our failures.

Every mighty oak started out a little nutty.

There is, indeed, Hope for all of us.
