The 2020-21 Tipton-Rosemark Academy Lady Rebels are building cohesion and chemistry in efforts to return to the State Tournament in a few weeks.
Dominating the competition for the most part, Head Coach Cedric Anderson’s Lady Rebels added another devastating victory to their resume’ Friday night beating the FACS Lady Crusaders 67-22.
The Lady Rebels employed a balanced attack throughout the night led by Brianna Hall, Mary “Cat” Catherine Turner, Sarah Allen Thornell and Jordan “JoJo” Allen. Underclassmen like Raven Sims, Eyse Warren and other added to the scoring outburst to subdue the Lady Crusaders.
“We’re having an outstanding season,” Anderson noted. “The girls have really bought in and have come together as a team. Initially they were not — we were individuals. They have stepped up and really become a team.”
Things haven’t been perfect for the Lady Rebels. In early January, TRA suffered an overtime defeat courtesy of the University School of Jackson Lady Bruins. Anderson and the Lady Rebels have the rematch with USJ on the schedule for Feb. 2 in the TRA Gymnasium.
Anderson said the adjustment needed to change the results against the Lady Bruins is simple.
“We’ve just got to make open shots,” he concluded. “We missed a ton of layups and a ton of open jump shots. We had our leading scorer Brianna Hall score 6 points in that game. That’s including the overtime. She’s usually a 20-point scorer. We’ve just got to make our shots.”
