Sunday, Millington Trojan Football legend George Odum became the first alumni to participate in the championship game of the NFL when his San Francisco 49ers took on the defending champs Kansas City Chiefs in Las Vegas in Super Bowl LVIII.

Odum was a starter for the 49ers on special teams and even got a defensive snap at safety, but the Chiefs won the thriller 25-22 in overtime. Odum is a 2013 Millington Central High School graduate and was a two-sport standout in high school in football and track.

After becoming an All-Conference performer at Central Arkansas, Odum signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent going on to become an NFL All-Pro for the 2020 season.

In 2018, Odum was invited back to his hometown of Millington for a unique and well-deserved honor. Odum became the fifth Millington Trojan Football player to have his jersey (No. 5) retired joining other greats Marlon Barnes, Tyrone Calico, Ahmaad Galloway and Alan Cross.
