Its that time again to honor the memory of the late Daniel Brooks, raise awareness for transplants and donate to the cause.
On June 13 is the date for the 16th Annual Daniel Brooks Transplant Foundation: Annual Car, Truck and Motorcycle Benefit.
The public is invited to come out for a great cause in memory of Daniel Brooks.
There will be classic vehicles, food and music. Also included will be raffle tickets and get a chance to win prizes (you have to be present to win). Cash prizes will be given away as well (you don’t have to be present to win).
Scheduled to be there is DJ 64 and Courtney Little with the music. Gates open at 10 a.m. at 11171 Highway 64 in Arlington.
The Daniel Brooks Transplant Foundation is turning 16 this year. The event that honors Daniel assists the Memphis Transplant Social Workers at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Two local transplant recipients receive the proceeds from the benefit every year with thousands of dollars awarded since 2013. Brooks passed away at the age of 23 for his illness.
There are currently more than 115,000 individuals on the national waiting list for organ transplants. Another name is added to the national transplant waiting list every 10 minutes. Sadly, 20 people will die everyday waiting from the lack of available organs for transplant. The Mid-South Transplant Foundation is the not-for-profit, federally designated Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) serving the 150-mile radius that surrounds the Memphis area including parts of western Tennessee, northern Mississippi, and eastern Arkansas.
