On Halloween, about 150 family members and friends gathered together in the Jimmy Burlison Town Hall to celebrate the 90th birthday of Elizabeth Bridges Coats. The birthday girl was presented with a potluck dinner, entertainment, photo shoots and a large cake. Once she blew out the candles, Coats said, “I feel 16 again.” Family from as far as California, Florida, Kentucky, Georgia and Pennslyvania to celebrate. Elizabeth Bridges Coats was born Oct. 31, 1925 in Memphis to parents Rev. W.A. Bridges and Freddie Dobbs Bridges both deceased. She married Thomas E. Coats. Her 10 children are Bettye Knepper (deceased), Carolyn Sarr, Glenda Williams (deceased), Thomas Coats Jr. (deceased), twins Mary Kaye Coats and Michael R. Coats (deceased), Patricia Skaggs (deceased), William L. Coats, Johnny M. Coats (deceased), land she lives with Shannon Lee Coats. Elizabeth had 21 grandchildren 49 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.
