The first Bolivar Central vs. Millington game was a classic with the Tigers using a buzzer-beater to prevail 67-66. The 32-point effort by Millington Trojan Seth Grandberry was in a losing effort.
The anticipated rematch finally took place Friday night in the William Osteen Gymnasium with the Bolivar Tigers jumping out 9-0 behind the hot shooting of Toris Woods and Andtrayvin Stewart. The Tigers remained on fire from the perimeter to earn a 86-39 win over the Trojans. Diego Reyes finally got the Trojans on the scoreboard to make the tally 9-2. Then Bolivar proceeded to score 26 more points in the first quarter to take a 35-6 lead. Woods had 15 points in the opening period alone. Then his teammates like Stewart and Trevorius Henderson hit three-pointers during the first quarter.
The Tigers only tallied 17 points in the second quarter while the Trojans scored 16 points. But Bolivar was still comfortably ahead 52-22 at halftime. But in the third quarter the Tigers turned up the intensity offensively with 26 points led by Woods and his teammate Jaquan Lax. The duo combined for 14 points to extend the Bolivar advantage to 78-37 after three quarters of action.
