Saturday morning nearly 150 people showed up for the Second Annual Community Cleanup Day, led by Indmar Marine Engines and the Millington City Beautiful Commission. By noon, the volunteers cleared 16 routes including the checkpoint of Discovery Nature Park. The Millington Police Department, including Chief Chris Stokes provided security for volunteers cleaning up along major roads like Veterans Parkway. Millington Mayor Larry Dagen had on a vest and got his hands dirty picking up trash to make his city more beautiful. There were several supporters and sponsors like Chick-fil-A and Scooter’s Coffee providing breakfast. Numerous sponsors contributed materials and supplies for cleaning and painting benches for local parks. See more snaps from the day on page 5A.
