Star Staff Reports
Holly Grove’s Thanksgiving Dinner and Service will focus on “Giving with a Grateful Heart” Holly Grove’s Annual Thanksgiving Dinner is scheduled Sunday, Nov. 20, at 5:30 p.m. The night will begin with a potluck meal and fellowship, followed by a program of music and testimony. In addition to our usual two dishes for the potluck, we are asking everyone to bring non perishable food items. Our goal is to flood the stage in the Family Life Center with food to put together giant food baskets for families in need. Let us make every effort to make this Thanksgiving special for as many families as possible. It is our hope that Holly Grove’s heart will exceed abundantly beyond in showing compassion and allow for us to also send an overflow to the Bread of Life Food Pantry or Boys and Girls Club. God desires for His children to show compassion to the poor and needy. The world sends messages to focus on ourselves, but when we take the focus off of ourselves and focus on God’s call to feed those in need, we let the love of Christ shine through us. 1 John 3:17-18 tells us “If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” I ran across this quote by Ronald Reagan, and I hope it speaks to you as it did me: “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”
