Greetings from the World of Real Estate with Julè. Let’s continue with the topic of “Curb Appeal.” Last week, lawn and garden care were our topic, including how to properly maintain the tools needed to do the job. Especially, the most important one – you!
Gloves, hats, umbrella on a portable stand or dolly and of course, stay hydrated. Another reminder, please use sunscreen.
This will help protect your skin. I have friends who were the “sun bather” type. It has taken a toll on their skin.
Have you planned your garden? Remember to evaluate the space, time and funds you have available for a successful garden.
Let’s move on to another area of curb appeal. The exterior of your home. We are approaching the time of year when that wonderful green pollen will start covering everything!
This will include the exterior of your home and windows. Spraying the exterior material, whether it be brick, vinyl or other types of siding, washing it down will be most helpful.
For me personally, it not only helps the outward appearance of my home, but also aid in breathing better when being near the house by not causing me to choke.
I have learned the hard way to wear a mask when doing outdoor chores while the “green covering” is present.
If you are not able to wash the exterior of your home with soap and water and a broom of some type, just rinse it down if you can. This will not be as good as actually washing down the siding, but it will help. Lowe’s sells a very small nozzle that costs less than $5. This little nozzle has a very strong stream that does the trick for me.
Sidewalks and driveways should be washed down as well.
Due to the rain, there may be mud on these areas that needs to be removed.
Grass is starting to grow, so remember to eliminate the grass and weeds from the sidewalk and driveway cracks.
I have found that vinegar sprayed directly on the weeds on a hot day will do a good job of killing them.
Do you have lawn furniture? If you do, cleaning it up also appear as though you take care of details of your home.
Light fixtures on the exterior of your home need your attention. Are they clean? Are they in need of repair or replacement?
If so, when we have a good weather day, this would be a great time to tend to that task. Be careful not to overreach.
Over reaching can cause injury. Remember, safety first for all projects.
Now that I have given you good advice on the exterior, I will need to follow it as well.
Hopefully, we will get a break from the rain so that we can do the maintenance to keep our homes looking very nice. Nice enough for someone to purchase.
