TOP CATS: Munford six pack of wrestlers have solid showing at Statte

The Munford Cougars sent six grapplers to Chattanooga last week for the 2021 State Wrestling Tournament with junior Wemawamungu Moktani bringing back a fourth-place medal in the 126-pound division in Class 3A.

After losing his opening match last week, Moktani rolled off four straight wins to reach the third place match Friday night. Easton Lipsey of Bradley Central outlasted Moktani 7-2 in the match to take third place.

Other Cougars to win matches at State were Gavin Haynes and Christian Perez Jr. Perez, a junior, won a match in the 138-pound division. Haynes, a senior, competed in the 170-pound division earning two victories. Other Munford wrestlers to compete at State were Kannon Blagg, a freshman in the 106-division and Jermyah Davis in the 195-division.
