Last Friday the smile and sight of a parking lot being laid could be seen by motorists at Forked River Commons at the site of LongHorn Steakhouse. Last year the news broke that Rare Hospitality International Inc. owns a 1.55-acre tract zoned B-2, General Commercial, in the northwest corner of the intersection of Highway 51 and West Union Road and desires to develop the site into a LongHorn Steakhouse restaurant. The Millington Planning Commission approved the Site Plan for the restaurant at its June 19 meeting. City Planner Nathaniel McHaffie told the commission that the 5,780-square-foot restaurant will be constructed on the “first outparcel” east of the Forked River Commons shopping center.
