As the development for Forked River Commons comes along, right across the street on West Union the site for the standalone Dollar Tree is taking shape. Behind the KFC location at the corner of Highway 51 North and West Union the new structure is currently being built by crews. The Millington Board of Mayor and Aldermen unanimously approved a Development Agreement for a new Dollar Tree store at West Union Road and Creek Mill Court back in May. At its April 17 meeting, the Millington Planning Commission approved an estimated bond amount of $102,151.92. City Planner Nathaniel McHaffie noted that it will cover grading, erosion control and work in the public right of way. The commission approved a Site Plan during its March 20 meeting. McHaffie has said the store will be north of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites and west of both the empty Lot 3 of the CBTN Millington Subdivision and the KFC restaurant at the intersection of Highway 51 and West Union Road.
