Across from Arby’s on Veterans Parkway, the newest Shelby County Whataburger is being constructed. Currently opened are locations at 2859 Germantown Parkway, 7755 Winchester Road and 1040 Germantown Parkway. Since 1950, Whataburger has been a presence in the Southern part of the United States. More than seven decades ago, entrepreneur Harmon Dobson had an idea to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his burger stand, located on Ayers Street in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Now Whataburger has more than 890 Whataburgers across the country.
