The Brighton Lady Cardinals will be competing in the 2015 Region 7-3A Volleyball Tournament next week.
Head Coach Cheryl Jacobs’ squad earned a spot in the upcoming tournament finishing second in the District 13-3A Volleyball Tournament held this past week at Hardin County.
Brighton was defeated by the No. 1 seeded Dyer County Lady Choctaws. Dyer County’s championship earned the Lady Choctaws the right to play Arlington, the runner ups of District 14-3A Tuesday night.
The Lady Cardinals will take on District 14-3A champs the Bartlett Lady Panthers.
The two winners will move onto the Region 7-3A championship game to be played the same night.
At the recent District 13-3A Tournament, Brighton players were recognized with honors including All-District Makayla Rose, Abi Martin and Shayna Johnson. Brighton players named to the All-Academic Team were Johnson and Hannah Bell. Lady Cardinals to earn All-Tournament spots were Sydney Cottingham and Johnson.
IN OTHER DISTRICT NEWS: The Munford Lady Cougars had several honorees at the District 13-3A Tournament last week starting with senior Bailee Webb being named to the All-Academic Team.
Lady Cougars on the All-District team were Ally Browing, Sloan Caruthers and De’Asha Banks.
