NSA Mid-South to Host Sexual Violence Lantern Processional Naval Support Activity Mid-South will host the Suzanne Collins Memorial Lantern Processional to End Sexual Violence, April 23. Nearly 30 years after the rape and murder of the 19-year-old Marine Corps lance corporal, the walk will be held to honor her memory and bring awareness and support to victims of sexual assault. “Awareness of the problem is a first step in strengthening prevention and response strategies,” said Suzanna Parkinson, sexual assault response coordinator on the base. “Those strategies include ensuring that all victims can safely report; expanding services; increasing cultural competence of leadership; protecting privacy and confidentiality; building partnerships with the community and increasing the overall organizational capacity of the military to care for its members.”
