The City of Millington is scheduled to host its Eighth Annual Veterans’ Parade on Saturday Nov. 6 along Navy Road.

The City of Millington is once again working along with the VFW Post 7175 and the American Legion 252 to pay tribute to those who served or currently serving the United States in our Armed Services.

Those who still want to be a part of the parade and honor the country can register by visiting the City of Millington website at www.millingtontn.gov

The parade route will begin at Newport Avenue traveling down Navy Road to Leroy Boatwright Street. Staging will begin at 9:30 a.m., no earlier. Navy Road will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. and will reopen following the parade.

Millington is home to the American Legion 252, VFW Post 7175 and the NSA Mid-South Base. Back in 2014 those organizations worked alongside the City of Millington to bring back the Veterans’ Day Parade.

“We have reached out to the participants from previous parades,” City of Millington’s Alex Harris said. “Our veteran participants look forward to this event each year. It is always a joy for the City of Millington to be able to host this event in their honor.”

There will be a reception for Parade participants around 9:30 at City Hall. Then the VFW Post 7175 will host a cookout for veterans at 4681 Cuba Millington Road after the parade.

In years past Millington Municipal Schools has been a part of the event with marching bands and the NJROTC. Local businesses have donated and marched along the route. And several City of Millington aldermen and employees have waived the red, white and blue to honor our military personnel. The Parade returned in 2014, after a nearly 40-year absence. The VFW Post 7175 has played a huge part in the preparation and execution of the parade. The Parade will give civilians a chance to express gratitude to those who served in the Armed Forces, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force or Reserves.
