Mid-South Quail Forever is teaming up with the Friends of the NRA, TWRA and Payne’s Quail Farm to host the National Rifle Association Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) on June 17 in Arlington.

The free event is an outdoor skills and safety training review for young hunters ages 10-18 who have completed a hunter safety course. The competition includes shooting events: shotgun, rifle and archery and non-shooting events: wildlife identification, hunter safety trail, compass orienteering and a written exam. The program is designed to help children and families develop an interest in outdoor sports and hunting events. Points are earned by participants for each event and awards given at the conclusion of the challenge with lunch provided. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

Contact Terry Baskin 901-268-4431 or email [email protected] for more information and to register.

Quail Forever works to involve young people in outdoor sports and conservation education through it’s “No Child Left Indoors” program.  The Friends of the NRA helps organizations such as Quail Forever financially through grants to involve our next generation of hunters and sportsmen.  We are all aware of TWRA’s focus on young people through its habitat work, hunter safety education, and various wildlife programs.
