Star Staff Reports

“Kindness”. That word means many different things to many different people.

Kindness is something that is becoming very rare in society, but the Munford High Family Career and Community Leaders of America

(FCCLA) chapter is working hard to show kindness in their school and community. Each month the Munford High FCCLA members vote a staff member at their school to be staff member of the month. The staff member chosen gets a gift basket to show appreciation for their kindness and hard work they show students each day. FCCLA members teamed up with FTA ( Future Teachers of America) members to show kindness in their school by creating special treats for every adult at MHS. When asked why they wanted to do this, FCCLA officers responded “As teens, we don’t get to show adults kindness that often. We like it when we can make our teachers and administrators smile.”

FCCLA’s first gift basket went to Ms. Heather Keith. As the school librarian, Ms. Keith encounters a lot of students. “When you go in the library, she is always there, with a smile, willing to help wherever she can.”

The second gift basket went to Ms. Stephanie Bruce. Ms. Bruce is Munford High school’s teacher of the year, but it is her kind heart and never ending smile that got her the FCCLA staff member of the month award. October brought Halloween, and of course Trick or Treating. Since our teachers could not go trick-or-treating, FCCLA made them their very own goodie bag. Instead of one staff member getting a reward, every adult in the build got a treat bag.

During November, FCCLA members were getting into the holiday spirit. This month they awarded three baskets, Mr. McFatridge, Ms. Stewart, and Ms. West. These teachers were all deserving of this honor.

For December, FCCLA enlisted the culinary classes and made fresh baked goodies for each adult in the building. FCCLA members like it when they see the adults they come in contact with each day, smile.

FCCLA is currently working on something for their entire building again.

We face a choice every moment of every day: We can fill one another’s buckets, or we can dip from them. … So which are you, a bucket filler or a bucket dipper?
