Body found in Orgill Park lake

shelby-county-badge-150x150-9176518The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office started an investigation Saturday after a drowning at a lake in Millington.

The body of a male was found in the lake at the Edmund Orgill Park located in the 9000 block of Bethuel Road.

The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The body was removed from the water and deputies located the victim’s silver Mercury Marquis nearby the scene. There was a note taped to the windshield of the car.

Sheriff’s say this drowning is a possible suicide. The medical examiner has not determined the exact cause of death over the weekend.

On Monday morning, the man was identified by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office as Shannon Pointer from Munford. According to deputies, a kayaker discovered the body in the water.
