alex-selby-and-maggie-johnson-225x300-4834687 Maggie Johnson & Alex Selby

Former Munford Lady Cougar Soccer players Alex Selby and Maggie Johnson were on opposing sides recently. After the game between Selby’s Mississippi College and Johnson’s The University of the Ozarks squad. Johnson is coming off a knee surgery and played the final 10 minutes of the first half and all of the second half. Selby played the final 10 minutes of the second half in a game that MC won 7-0. “They were very excited to get to play against each other and had a great time talking after the game,” Munford Head Coach Richard Selby said. “This will be the last time they get to play against or with each other as Mississippi College is moving to Division II next season.  As a coach it is great to be able to see two of your four year starters who have worked so hard in school and in life, reach a goal of playing in college.

“As everyone knows, it is very unusual for freshman to come into a college and get any playing time and they both are pushing for starting positions,” he added. “I think they will both say that college is a different level than they have ever expected and they are being pushed to reach their maximum abilities. Alex is majoring in BioChemistry and Maggie is undecided at this time.  They are both working hard in school and in soccer.  Maggie is going to play softball this spring at Ozarks and we look forward to seeing her excel in two sports as usual.”
