Star Staff Reports
Nominated by co-workers and selected by a district committee, a teacher from each of the district’s four schools will be honored monthly for using blended learning and technology strategies, building relationships with students and families, and demonstrating enthusiasm and professionalism. November’s recipients were Fannie Eavenson, third grade math at E.A. Harrold Elementary, Tiffany Kost, STEM and Technology at Millington Elementary School, Jessie Cartwright, sixth grade social studies at Millington Middle School, and Katie Neiman, exceptional students/functional skills at Millington Central High School. December’s recipients are Meron Ticer, fourth grade math at E.A. Harrold, Charlene Cockrell, third grade virtual teacher at Millington Elementary School, Valerie Shavers, art teacher at Millington Middle School, and Aaron Dechant, language arts at Millington Central High School. These teachers received gift bags filled with items from local businesses donated by the Children and Student Ministries of First Baptist Church-Millington along with a lunch from a local restaurant sponsored in November by the Kiwanis Club of Millington and in December by Terry Jones Insurance Agency. The Millington Public Library will also honor all ME Award winners by purchasing a book, chosen by the teacher, to add to the library’s collection. Congratulations to these Millington Municipal School District honorees.
