No. 3 Covington (Region 7-3A) @ No. 1 Milan (Region 7-3A)

In a battle of two of the best Class 3A West Tennessee teams, the Chargers of Covington will travel to Milan for a rematch with the Bulldogs. Milan went 9-1 this season and unbeaten in Region play. That includes a 14-7 win at Covington. This game is too close to call with the Chargers 8-2 on the season. Covington’s only defeats came by a combined 8 points to Milan and South Gibson. With the game at Milan, give the bulldogs a slight edge.

The Trojans of Dyer County have scored a combined 90 points in wins over Liberty and Crockett County. Meanwhile only giving up 20 points. Millington has been competitive in most games this year playing a variety of teams with a make-shift schedule. Dyer County has a solid offense led by Josh Stewart. But the Choctaws suffered a 35-21 loss to the Munford Cougars in October. When Brighton played those same Cougars for the Region 8-5A title back on Sept. 18, it was a thriller with Munford edging the Cardinals 39-34. Brighton’s offense has the ability to put big numbers. But the schemes by Covington and Dyersburg did shut the Cardinals out.

The Wildcats are 4-5 entering the playoffs but Clarksville is 3-0 down the stretch. Wildcats have averaged 42.3 points in those games.

CHANCE OF WINNING: Clarksville 44%, Munford 56%

The rematch from Oct. 2, will give Houston a chance to avenge the 38-20 defeat. The Panthers have been rolling since a 42-16 loss to CPA in the season opener. After a 22-19 upset of Christian Brothers, Bartlett has scored no less than 27 points the rest of the season to earn the No. 1 seed.
