The Millington Lady Trojans battled to the end as they tried to extend their season for one more week on Sept. 27. Facing a tough field of golfers the Lady Trojans came up short and finished fifth in the Regional Tournament. Maddie Roberts’ 106 was a couple of strokes too many to be able to advance as an Individual. Fellow senior Cally Chalker recorded a 113 and Makenna Jenkins shot a 126. This closes out the season for the girl golfers as we will say goodbye to two seniors, Roberts and Chalker that showed a lot of grit and determination. Hopefully Jenkins, Hayley Fiene and Emily McKell will learn from their example and continue the success of the girls’ program.

The Millington Trojans also traveled to The Tennessee River Course in Decaturville for the Regionals on Monday. The Trojans had high hopes of adding a Regional Championship to their district title and moving on to State. They came up a little short in their bid and ended up third. Andrew and Matthew Westmoreland did advance to the State tournament as individuals as the second and third place finishers. Andrew shot 75, Matthew came in one shot back with a 76, Matthew Johnson 90, Connor Hall 117 and Cody McKell carded a 128 to round out the scoring for the Trojans. Andrew and Matthew will continue to practice and prepare for the State Tournament that starts this Thursday Oct. 7. at the Sevierville Golf Course.
